It is associated with eating, or feeding and rules the digestive track or stomach. This sign calls for emotional strength, family spirit, simplicity, and receptivity. It also deals with the economy to a degree, the ups and downs in life, and family matters. When a new or full Moon takes place in Cancer it is always a good time to contemplate, seek creature comforts, and stay in.  

Sun in Cancer: 

The Sun at its most basic represents authority figures like our fathers, the president, and officials in positions of authority, this is why Kings were hidden when the Sun was eclipsed back in ancient times. It is also our health, vitality, and life force. Our ego and will to strive for success or make decisions is shown by our Sun. The Sun has a way of illuminating things and rules our spirit. When in Cancer the Sun can bring about a wealth of feelings. It is receptive, impressionable, and contemplative. New Moon in Cancer:

There can be this conflict surrounding the need for self-sacrifice for the benefit of family. It can also lead to the denial of intimacy and closeness with loved ones according to Demetra George. Unhealthy attachments can produce smothering relationships or separation and loss. Other problems may include reoccurring themes of depression and rejection. Currently, it is important to cling to a healthy sense of self-worth. This shows a need for loving non-judgmental support for each other.  

With Ceres and the Moon, the nurturing principle combines with our emotional responsiveness. Stressful aspects like the opposition can create conflict between meeting your own needs and those of our family. Other problems that may arise are separations, anxieties, fears of rejection, and feelings of isolation. This creates a denial of emotional fulfillment. The issues can be healed if we can be sensitive to the emotional needs of others and mutually support each other.  

Full Moon Conjunct Sirius:  

This full Moon is with the Fixed Star Sirius. According to Bernedette Brady, “Ptolemy states that Sirius is like Jupiter with a touch of Mars. Robson mentions fame and honor, as well as faithfulness and guardians. Ebertin agrees with Robson and adds that a person influenced by Sirius is in danger of pushing things forward too fast. Rigor agrees with Ebertin and adds that such a person loves power,” (Brady’s Book Of Fixed Stars). 

According to Robson, “It gives honor, renown, wealth, ardor, faithfulness, devotion, passion and resentment, and makes its natives custodians, curators and guardians. It also gives danger of dog bites, and two examples of this effect will be found under Procyon. [Robson, p.208.] Robson states that with the Sun there is success in business or occupations connected with metals or martial affairs, and domestic harmony. She goes on to say that when Sirius is with the Moon there is Success in business, influential friends of opposite sex, favorable for the father, good health, beneficial changes in home or business. If a malefic be with Scheat, death by fiery cutting weapons or from beasts. (Robson, p. 209) 

Ebertin (Elsbeth) states that Sirius in conjunction with the Sun and well placed in the chart will be found to be the case with numerous important and famous personalities. Possibly, the rise in station is made possible by protection from people of influence.” [Fixed Stars and Their Interpretation, Elsbeth Ebertin, 1928, p.38.] She is right, Princess Dianna, George W. Bush, Frida Kahlo, Sylvester Stallone, and James VI all had this star with the Sun! 

The Midpoints: 

I was a little confused by the midpoints because one is considered very positive and the other quite negative. The Mars|Jupiter Midpoint with the Sun covers themes like: “Betrothal. Procreation. A man who is happy and successful in is work. Birth of a boy. The son.” With the Moon this means, “Betrothed woman or girl. Birth of a girl. People who are content and satisfied with their activities,” Ultimately this midpoint is very positive and associated with making decisions that are fortunate. Makes me wonder if some celeb is going to have a baby, announce a pregnancy, or engagement.  

The Hades|Kronos midpoint is also active with the New Moon. This midpoint has a real mafia vibe to it. The basic formula for a criminal on a bigscale is not what I was expecting to see with this New Moon! Corrupt officials, governments, police, investigators may be in the limelight during this next week in my opinion. Death and ruin in ruling circles are said to be associated with this midpoint so it does make me feel a little uneasy about things.  

With the Sun this midpoint is said to bring days of ill fortune or a run of bad luck. Men who must defend themselves against vile actions are mentioned; the government not keeping its promise and much ill fate or death by grave events are both mentioned. Sounds grim to me. With the Moon it is said to bring immense misfortune for women or the public. However scary this sounds though I am not putting too much stock in it.  

The 9th Lunar Mansion From 12.51 Cancer to 25.42 Cancer

In Arabic, the name of the Ninth Mansion is Al-Tarf, “The Eyes.” The tropical boundaries are from 12 Cancer 51 to 25 Cancer 42. It’s key words are: Divine wrath, severity, disempowerment, infirmity, frustration and misfortune. This Lunar Mansion gives us a warning to get prepared to have power over our perceptions and reactions to challenging times. Warnock says we can do so by, “cultivating acceptance, emotional stability, wisdom and faith that all things have purpose, then burdens grow much lighter,” As the Moon moves out of the positive 8th Mansion and into foreboding of illness and defeat in the Ninth, it warns of approaching misfortune regarding health and travel. The manifestation of this energy might be more inward, too, bringing about a time of depression or disappointment.

Picatrix, Book I, Chapter Four says of the Ninth Mansion, “In this Mansion it is good to make to destroy crops, and to make unfortunate those who travel on journeys, to do evil to all men, and to cause division and hatred between allies, and to defend yourself from being attacked by another man.” I thought I would throw this in for you folks interested in planetary magic.
