Sarah Good was one of the first of three women accused of witchcraft in Salem, MA. She was arrested on March 1st of 1692 and died by hanging on July 19th of 1692. They even imprisoned her small daughter and had her testify against Sarah. At the time of her arrest, she was pregnant and gave birth eventually in prison. Unfortunately, the child didn’t live long. Eventually her small child was freed and let go after being shackled in prison for months. Obviously, the child was never the same again. Today I want to look at Sarah’s untimed natal chart and compare it to the transits and her solar arcs on the day of her arrest.
The first two things I noticed about Sarah’s natal chart were the Jupiter Saturn opposition and the tight square between Pluto and the nodes. Jupiter in harsh aspect to Saturn may indicate trouble with clergy men, politicians, and government officials. It can also indicate a loss of prosperity for the native at some point in life. From my understanding Sarah was born to an inn keeper who committed suicide when she was 17 years old. After the loss of her father Sarah’s mom married a man who squandered the remaining inheritance. Although Sarah and her sisters were supposed to get an inheritance, they never did receive one. The stepfather spent all of it and Sarah became a beggar.
The principal and basic description of Pluto with the nodes is to share a common destiny with a large mass of people. This destiny is said to be a tragic one too. Pluto and the node are also in contact with the trans Neptunian planet Apollon. When Pluto and Apollon are together it can signify the potential for major events with gigantic consequences. With the node involved we can assume that these consequences are related to her connections or relationships.
At the time of her arrest her arcing Jupiter Saturn aspect was in contact with natal Neptune. Transit Mars opposed natal Neptune and transit Hades was sesquiquadrate. Now when Mars and Hades are in aspect vulgar acts can take place. Deaths of an unusual nature can occur. Given the fact Neptune is involved, treachery can occur that could result in death. These two combined with that solar arc Jupiter Saturn opposition are not good. Jupiter would imply capital punishment, which is what occurred eventually. Saturn is said to bring death by murder. The whole cluster hits the Hades|Pluto midpoint. A midpoint of dishonesty, downfall, and evil changes to come. With Neptune we can see she has been put in an evil situation or crisis. Mars would indicate some form of action or plan that is corrupt and manipulative. The Mercury|Posiedon midpoint is hit as well. With Mars this can bring up arguments over morality and what is and isn’t moral behavior.
I noticed that the transit Node was hitting the evilest midpoint in Uranian astrology at the time too in Sarah’s natal chart. This brings about the need to face danger directly and be harassed. This midpoint is said to bring about capital punishment and even possibly murder. I suppose that this is getting long and I should wrap it up. I hope you enjoyed reading!
